Delaire Graff Sauvignon Blanc 2017

Western Cape, South Africa

750ml / 13.9% ABV

Grape Variety: 93% Sauvignon Blanc, 7% Semillon

Tim Atkin: Morné Vrey sources this comparatively large cuvée from vineyards in Olifants River, Napier, and Durbanville, blending Sauvignon with 7% Semillon. Very lightly wooded, it’s salty and refreshing with notes of citrus fruit and oyster shell.
The most enigmatic of all grape varietals, Sauvignon Blanc harbors within its DNA an astonishing array of flavors - flavors that are best unlocked by different soil types and microclimates. Rarely does a single site yield the ultimate expression of the varietal. In an endeavor to achieve this, Delaire Graff sought out and procured grapes from diverse sites in three cool grape growing regions. Fresh, lively and intense, this Sauvignon Blanc displays a rich collage of flavors that will reward the most discerning lovers of the varietal.

Inviting flavors of toasty biscuit aromas and pineapple on the nose. On the palate crisp Granny Smith apples and pears add balance to this wine.

Roast duck and pear salad is a particular flavour, though the wine is not easily dominated by smoked pork, fish or Thai pawns.
