Protos, Verdejo, Rueda, 2020

Bright yellow straw color, with green hints that reflect its youth. On the nose, it has medium to high intensity. Aromas of tropical fruits (pineapple) and citrus fruits first appear along with white fruits (apple) and herbs, such as boxwood and fennel. It is dry on the mouth with an amazing balance of freshness and acidity. Good structure and body given by its fine lees’ aging. Long finish with a slightly bitter palate, typical of the variety. 


Bodegas Muga, Muga, Reserva, Rioja, 2016

This wine is ruby-red with glints of brick-red and a medium-high depth of color. Dense legs which provide you with a sequence of patterns around the sides of the glass. Initially you can find notes of red fruit aromas such as blackberries and reminders of spices. This is all well balanced by smoked aromas from its time in wood which had received a light-to-medium toasting. A subtle vanilla pod aroma coming through with roast coffee nuances. A smooth, mellow attack, with tannins wrapping the sides of the mouth with hints of menthol. In the finish the interesting lingering persistence is worthy of note.

You can pair this wine with veal, Iberian ham and charcuterie and some kinds of stews and hotpots.

Blend: 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha, 10% Mazuelo & Graciano 


Cesar Principe, Crianza, Cigales, 2014

César Príncipe Crianza is a red wine from Cigales prepared by César Príncipe. This wine is a varietal Tempranillo.

César Príncipe Crianza comes from grapes from three different plots located in Fuensaldaña, Valladolid. The vines are old and they have a very low density.

The harvest is manual, the clusters, once in the cellar, go through a process of complete stripping. A cold maceration is performed for about two days. The resulting juice from this process is subsequently fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature between 28 and 30 degrees.

After the first fermentation of about a week, maceration occurs in contact with the skins for three weeks then undergoes malolactic fermentation in some barrels and the rest in deposits.  Aged in French oak barrels (80%) and American barrels (the remaining 20%) for a period of 14 months. The barrels are renewed and no transfer occurs.


Matarredonda, Libranza, Toro, 2014

Libranza is Matarredonda’s flagship. A classic Toro wine made from 100% Toro Tinto, the local variety of the Tempranillo grape. All grapes are hand-picked from vines that are 100-150 years old. For that reason alone an exceptional wine and experience and also a very limited harvest yield of around 1,500 kg / hectare. A violet, almost black wine. Very powerful and fruity (blackberries and ripe cherries) with a touch of licorice and vanilla. Elegant wine with strong structure. The wine has been stored on French oak barrels for 14 months and has an alcohol content of 14.5%.  Has storage potential for 10-15 years more. Libranza has been given 90 points by Parker

Genium Celler, Excellent, Priorat, 2013

The Garnacha and Cariñena grapes are from 90+ year old vines, while Merlot comes from 20-year-old vines. The grapes undergo a 48 hour pre-fermentation cold soak followed by temperature controlled fermentation between 24° to 26° celsius in small stainless steel vats, and macerated for a 25-day period. Aged in 20% new and 80% 1 year old French Allier oak barrels for 12 months.

Grapes: 54% Garnacha, 17% Cariñena, 12% Merlot, 9% Syrah, and 8% Cabernet. 7.300 bottles produced.

The grapes for this wine come from 8 different vineyards in the towns of La Morera, Torroja and Poboleda, with different exposures, soils and climates.


Veganzones, 912 de Altitud, Caliza, Crianza, Ribera del Duero, 2015

Cherry red. Medium to very deep. Clean and bright. Very complex, medium intensity.

Lingering notes of red berry fruits and ripe blackberries. We also find touches of cedar, tobacco and some hints of pastry, toasted very subtle. Subtlety and balance between varietal and oak hints.

Sweet entry, the French oak tannins brought great elegance. Balanced acidity brings the wine alive. Lingering.  Black mulberries and toffees come through again.
